The Retreat Bag is an attractive zippered pouch with a wide base and a wide structured 

There is a casing in the top where you insert a wire frame (one on each
side), which helps it stay open, and helps turn the corners down when 
closed. It has two optional slip pockets inside and a long zipper opens it

This is a great workshop for learning beginner bag-making skills such as installing a zipper
introduction of hardware and general bag construction techniques. Some pre-class cutting of your fabric is required; your instructor will email you instructions at least a week in advance.

The bag frame and stabilizers are included in the class fee.  Fabric for construction is extra.

The instructor is Lindsay Nichols who brings a wealth of enthusiasm, experience & knowledge in bag & apparel making to our team.

Fabric requirements:

1/2m Exterior fabric (quilting cotton, canvas etc.)
3/4m Lining fabric (quilting cotton)
22" zipper

This workshop is suited for adults (age 15+)

We do have COVID protocol in place at the shop: we have reduced the number of seats available to ensure social distancing and request you bring a mask to wear when necessary.  The workstations and machines will be sanitized before & after each class.

If you cannot attend a class and it is 7 or more days before class, you will receive a store credit for 75% of the value of the class with a 30-day expiry date. If you cancel less than 7 days before class, you will NOT receive a refund or store credit. No credit or refund will be given for a "no show" in class regardless of reason. So please ensure that you are able to attend before signing up. East Coast Quilt Co reserves the right to cancel classes/events for any reason. If this happens, you will be refunded your full class fee.

For most of our classes we ask you to bring a 'basic sewing kit' which usually contains: rotary cutter and/or scissors, small snipping scissors, straight pins & a pin cushion or collector, seam ripper, a spool of neutral 50 wt cotton thread, extra bobbins, notebook & pen/pencil, ruler(s), etc.)

Instructor Bio: Lindsay Nichols is the owner and operator of Purple Door Designs, specializing in creating Purses, Bags, Wallets, clothing and accessories. Having grown up sitting on the floor in her mother?s sewing room is how Lindsay?s love of fabric and design brought a passion to life in the form of a thriving and successful home based business. What started out as sewing simple bags and wallets very quickly expanded into design and production of fashionable and sturdy accessories sold mostly via her Facebook page and Instagram account. Buying clothing for her tall skinny children became very challenging and accidently developed into her creating grow with me clothing for children and subsequently adult wear. Lindsay prides herself on a primarily ME MADE wardrobe from inside to outside. Lindsay buys Canadian fabrics, Shops Canadian and Believes in Local
