Quilting is about using simple shapes to create new and more intricate shapes & patterns. Each week you will focus on a particular shape & colour to build your block. Over the course of the series you will explore & work with crosses, triangles, stripes & squares, resulting in a modern Sampler Quilt! In the last week of class setting your blocks & quilting options will be discussed.
Instructor Lori Shortall will guide you through this 8-part series based on Tula Pink's popular book 'City Sampler, 100 Modern Blocks'. Each week you will tackle a new challenge from the book:
Class 1, Wednesday September 16, 6-9pm: Intro to the series & a discussion of colour choices;
Class 2, Wednesday September 23, 6-9pm: Crosses;
Class 3, Wednesday October 7, 6-9pm: Rectangles;
Class 4, Wednesday October 21, 6-9pm: Triangles;
Class 5, Wednesday November 4, 6-9pm: Stripes;
Class 6, Wednesday November 18, 6-9pm: Squares;
Class 7, Wednesday December 2, 6-9pm: Haiku Blocks;
Class 8, Sunday December 13, 9am-3pm: Setting the blocks and quilting options.
Lori is taking inspiration from Tula's setting called 'Skyline':
