Kids' Sewing Summer Camp

A weeklong full day camp, full of fun & interesting projects.  Geared to hone basic sew skills plus challenge the kids to tackle trickier procedures.  Ages 9 to 13 years.  Sewing machines & all materials provided.

Please pack your own lunch and snack.

9am - 4pm, August 4-7.

PLEASE NOTE: our shop & classroom area is set up for social distancing, and we have COVID protocol in place.  Use of masks is recommended.

DAY 1:  

– welcome to the class, 
curriculum overview & sewing safety procedures

– discussion of tools, color theory

- fabric selection

- cutting techniques

- straight line sewing

- students will make a burrito pillowcase & a wraparound bookmark

DAY 2: 

– students will continue with previous day's projects  if necessary

– students will make two face masks

– students will make a name banner

– students will make a book pillow

DAY 3:

– students will make a mini messenger bag

– as well they can choose an assortment of projects that coordinate with the bag including an iPad case, book journal cover, key fob, cord case, sunglass case, or earbud case

DAY 4:

– students will continue working on previous projects if necessary

– students will make a pair of pyjama pants

Day 5:

– students will complete a small lap quilt

– students will finish any outstanding projects

Instructor: Lori Shortall
Instructor Bio: Lori is a combination of the Energizer Bunny and (a younger!) Jenny Doan! She is a gifted teacher, a talented quilter and a funny, outgoing individual! Her classes are fun & informative.
