Introduction to English Paper Piecing

English paper piecing (EPP) involves stabilizing fabric pieces with
paper before sewing them into intricate designs. It is most effective for shapes that do not
have long straight sides and will require numerous set-in corners, such as hexagons. Because
EPP is done by hand, it makes a terrific on-the-go project. In the workshop you will learn two
different ways to baste your shapes and use proper techniques and tools to stitch your shapes
together. You will complete a small piece in this class. Students can choose between a EPP
Hexi bowl, or a EPP Hexi Coaster.

This workshop is suited for adults (age 15+)

COVID protocol is in place: all participants must wear a mask while moving around the shop.  Masks can be removed at the indiviudal workspaces.  Machines and work surfaces are sanitized between sessions.

Instructor Bio: Lindsay Nichols is the owner and operator of Purple Door Designs, specializing in creating Purses, Bags, Wallets, clothing and accessories. Having grown up sitting on the floor in her mother's sewing room is how Lindsay's love of fabric and design brought a passion to life in the form of a thriving and successful home based business. What started out as sewing simple bags and wallets very quickly expanded into design and production of fashionable and sturdy accessories sold mostly via her Facebook page and Instagram account. Buying clothing for her tall skinny children became very challenging and accidentally developed into her creating "grow with me" clothing for children and subsequently adult wear. Lindsay prides herself on a primarily "ME MADE" wardrobe from inside to outside. Lindsay buys Canadian fabrics, Shops Canadian and Believes in Local.
