Learn to Sew Series - Level 2
This exciting course will build on the skills you learned in Learn to Sew - Level 1. Join Instructor, Donna Mactavish, as she takes you through some more advanced beginner techniques and projects. Time to take your sewing to the next level! This class is for students who have completed the Learn to Sew or Learn to Quilt series or have similar sewing experience.
COURSE OUTLINE
Class #1
- Review basic sewing machine (threading, filling bobbin, etc)
- Straight line & curved stitching
- Make a Fabric Basket! (materials provided)
- Skills learned: topstitching, lined item, fusible batting
- Make a set of pillowcases
- Skills learned: French seams, burrito method
- Make a mitered corner baby blanket, table topper, OR double sided napkin
- Students will also be shown how to create a single-mitered corner table napkin
- Skills: Mitered corner, lined item
- Make a Retreat Bag!
- Skills: attaching interfacing, inserting a zipper, using bag hardware, lining, pockets
Students will be given a complete material list at the start of the workshop series. Supplies are included for the first project. Sewing machines are provided for this workshop, however, if you have your own we suggest bringing it along.
This class is suited for adults (age 15+)
All workshop participants are required to sign a waiver before the workshop. The entire waiver can be viewed at the bottom of our classes page. (East Coast Quilt Co. Workshop Waiver)
WORKSHOP CANCELLATION POLICY:
If you cannot attend a workshop (either one-day, or a multi-day series) and it is 7 or more days before the start date, you will receive a store credit for 75% of the value of the workshop with a 30-day expiry date. If you cancel less than 7 days before the start of the workshop, you will NOT receive a refund or store credit. No credit or refund will be given for a "no-show" in the workshop regardless of the reason. So please ensure that you can attend before signing up. EAST COAST QUILT Co reserves the right to cancel workshops/events for any reason. If this happens, you will be refunded your full workshop fee.
WHAT IS IN A BASIC SEWING KIT:
For most of our workshops we ask you to bring a 'basic sewing kit' which usually contains: rotary cutter and/or scissors, small snipping scissors, straight pins & a pin cushion or collector, seam ripper, a spool of neutral 50 wt cotton thread, extra bobbins, notebook & pen/pencil, ruler(s), etc.).
