Needle Lace Moon & Stars Embroidery Workshop

Join instructor, Jess McDonald, on this 3 session series to create a hand-embroidered moon with lacey stars!

This series will teach technique, stitches, colour combinations, and mounting your work. After choosing your threads and fabric, Jess will help you set up your templates and then you’ll get down to business and begin stitching! Students will learn how to transfer an image to cloth and explore fabric applique using soft fuse. You will learn how to finish off your piece making it suitable for framing.

Students will need:

  • 0.25m of Soft Fuse
  • Fabric for the moon: approx 12in x 12in
  • For Stars: Embroidery Thread for stitching - I suggest 3 colours that go well together (can be floss or perle cotton)
  • Embroidery needles - size 3 to 9
  • Long hand-sewing needles (kogin, sashiko, or doll needles are recommended)
  • Embroidery Hoop - we recommend the 9” Morgan hoop
  • For Base Cloth: Fat Quarter of 100% cotton, either Stitchers Linen, Kona Solid, or muslin
  • Marking Tool - water erasable or heat erasable
  • Fabric Scissors - Sharp!
  • Embroidery Snips
  • Optional - needle threader, thread wax, wonder clips
