Foundation paper piecing is a popular technique in making quilt bocks, but can be incredibly intimidating if you haven’t tried it! It’s done by sewing fabric to a printed paper foundation. This method is beloved by experienced quilters because it can be used to create extremely precise points and shapes. Paper piecing can be used for many designs, from simpler blocks like a square-in-a-square or elaborate patterns like a Mariner’s compass.

Instructor Bio: | Lindsay Nichols is the owner and operator of Purple Door Designs, specializing in creating Purses, Bags, Wallets, clothing and accessories. Having grown up sitting on the floor in her mother's sewing room is how Lindsay's love of fabric and design brought a passion to life in the form of a thriving and successful home based business. What started out as sewing simple bags and wallets very quickly expanded into design and production of fashionable and sturdy accessories sold mostly via her Facebook page and Instagram account. Buying clothing for her tall skinny children became very challenging and accidentally developed into her creating "grow with me" clothing for children and subsequently adult wear. Lindsay prides herself on a primarily "ME MADE" wardrobe from inside to outside. Lindsay buys Canadian fabrics, Shops Canadian and Believes in Local. |
