Learn to Stitch Level 1 - Modern Landscape Sampler

Welcome to the world of stitching! In this 6-week series, Jessica will teach you the foundational stitches in embroidery to create a one-of-a-kind landscape sampler. Students will be guided through designing their landscape piece, and then work on a section of their project in a specific set of stitches being taught that week.

Stitching is a slow and thoughtful process that yields beautiful results with patience and care. Students will work on the project in class and take it home to finish and tie in any loose ends before returning to class the next week. This is a great series to learn the art of stitching, meet others in the craft community, and learn in a supportive environment.

Projected Syllabus:

Week 1: We will go over supplies needed for the 6-week series and be introduced to the project. Students will then spend time picking out their fabric and threads. After that, students will transfer their image to the cloth and we will get to stitching! Techniques taught: Seed Stitch & Running Stitch.

Week 2
Techniques: Double Running Stitch, Herringbone Stitch

Week 3 Techniques: Satin Stich & Backstitch

Week 4 Techniques: Blanket Stitch, French Knots, Couching

Week 5 Techniques: Chain Stitch & Feather Stitch

Week 6 Techniques: Fabric Applique. Students will also be shown ways to finish off their pieces for display.
