Alterations 101 - Tapers

Nip & tuck your shirts, dresses, or pants to get a custom fit to your contour! Instructor Kerri Ivany will show you the tricks and techniques of this trade to make your clothing uniquely yours.

Participants are required to provide their own clothing. It is recommended to bring multiple items, as not all items are alter-friendly. This can include: Shirt, pants (jeans work very well!), or dress that needs to be taken in/shaped. Super stretch fabrics are NOT recommended for this. Kerri will go through your pile and pick items that are suitable for the workshop - so bring as many items as you have.

Materials & Tools:

  • Shirt, pants, or dress that needs to be taken in/shaped. Ideally something that is not lined or very stretchy

  • Sewing machine (recommended to bring your own, but we have classroom ones for rent)

  • Straight pins

  • Safety Pins

  • Needles (70/10, 80/12, 90/14 - size dependent on garment, ballpoint if working with knit fabrics)

  • Coordinating thread for garments

  • Marking tool

  • Fabric Scissors (6"-8" recommended)

  • Basic Sewing Kit

This class is suited for adults (age 15+)

All workshop participants are required to sign a waiver prior to the workshop. The entire waiver can be viewed at the bottom of our classes page. (East Coast Quilt Co. Workshop Waiver)
