Alterations 101 - Hemming
Learn the basics on how to hem pants! Jeans, non-stretch jogging pants, and dress pants.
Techniques: How to do fitting, measure inseam, mark/cut/sew. Double fold hem (jeans), serge & double stitch (jogs), blind stitch (dress pants).
Materials & tools:

Students are required to provide their own garments for alterations. Bring various pants, ideally a pair of jeans, non to little stretch jogs, or dress pants.

Coordinating thread for garments

Marking tool

Fabric Scissors (heavy 6” - 8” recommended)

Needles (80/12 & 100/16 recommended, ballpoint if you have knit garments)

Basic Sewing kit
This class is suited for adults (age 15+)
All workshop participants are required to sign a waiver prior to the workshop. The entire waiver can be viewed at the bottom of our classes page. (East Coast Quilt Co. Workshop Waiver)
WORKSHOP CANCELLATION POLICY:
If you cannot attend a workshop (either one-day, or a multi-day series) and it is 7 or more days before the start date, you will receive a store credit for 75% of the value of the workshop with a 30-day expiry date. If you cancel less than 7 days before the start of the workshop, you will NOT receive a refund or store credit. No credit or refund will be given for a "no-show" in the workshop regardless of the reason. So please ensure that you can attend before signing up. EAST COAST QUILT Co reserves the right to cancel workshops/events for any reason. If this happens, you will be refunded your full workshop fee.
WHAT IS IN A BASIC SEWING KIT:
For most of our workshops we ask you to bring a 'basic sewing kit' which usually contains: rotary cutter and/or scissors, small snipping scissors, straight pins & a pin cushion or collector, seam ripper, a spool of neutral 50 wt cotton thread, extra bobbins, notebook & pen/pencil, ruler(s), etc.).
