Foundation Paper Piecing - New York Beauties and Flying Geese



In this three-session series workshop, join the fabulous Rochelle as she guides you through all things Foundation Paper Piecing (FPP)! This quilting workshop combines FPP, curved piecing, New York Beauty blocks, and Flying Geese and is perfect for confident beginners and up!

For this workshop, students will construct one block from New York Beauties & Flying Geese by Carl Hentsch which may be completed as a pillow. Depending on the individual learning needs of each participant, this can be finished with or without a zipper! 

Materials Required:

  • Foundation Paper - This can be FPP paper, newsprint, regular copy paper, or vellum. ECQco will have arcs & fans pre-printed for your first class!

  • Add A Quarter Plus Ruler (if you already have one. If not, please wait until the first day of class to discuss differences in product and instructor recommendations)

  • Template Plastic

  • Paper Scissors

  • Fabric Glue Stick

  • Basic Sewing Kit (see below)

  • Fabric (see below)

  • 22in Zipper (optional) 

Fabric Requirements - The block for this class will require a fat eighth or less of 8 different fabrics for the arcs and fans, a contrast colour for the geese background, and a contrast colour for solid arc and background. Specific amounts will be sent out after registration. 

WORKSHOP CANCELLATION POLICY:
If you cannot attend a workshop (either one-day, or a multi-day series) and it is 14 or more days before the start date, you will receive a store credit for 75% of the value of the workshop. If you cancel less than 14 days before the start of the workshop, you will NOT receive a refund or store credit. No credit or refund will be given for a "no-show" in the workshop regardless of the reason. So please ensure that you can attend before signing up.  EAST COAST QUILT Co reserves the right to cancel workshops/events for any reason. If this happens, you will be refunded your full workshop fee.

WHAT IS IN A BASIC SEWING KIT: 

For most of our workshops we ask you to bring a 'basic sewing kit' which usually contains: rotary cutter and/or scissors, small snipping scissors, straight pins & a pin cushion or collector, seam ripper, a spool of neutral 50 wt cotton thread, extra bobbins, notebook & pen/pencil, ruler(s), etc.).


Skill Level: Intermediate
Skill Details: Suitable for Confident Beginners and up! Students must be familiar with a sewing machine (including troubleshooting) and able to sew a straight line. Confidence in cutting is an asset.
