Lace Weaving Sampler

Students are invited to play with pick-up weaving techniques that are suitable for both rigid heddle & shaft looms! In this 4-session series, join instructor Jess McDonald as you learn how to create stunning lace structures on a 16 inch rigid heddle loom! Or, bring your own loom!

Students will then be guided through the direct warping process on the rigid hedle loom using 4/8 cotton. For this project, students will be making a sampler that is approximately 10 inches wide. Students will be shown woven examples to help them in deciding their warp colour!

Once the loom is set up, you will start with the theory behind hand-manipulated lace techniques and how to achieve them with plain weave. From there, students will head to the loom and sample lace techniques, including Leno Lace, Danish Medallion, Brooks Bouquet, Hem Stitching, and more! Participants will leave with a lovely sampler that contains their new lace weaving skills!
