Youth Sewing Summer Camp - August 18th to 22nd



Five full days of fun & interesting projects. Geared to hone basic sewing skills (both hand and machine!) plus challenge the kids to tackle trickier procedures. Ages 9 to 13 years. Sewing machines & all materials provided.

Participants must bring their lunch and snacks. We have a microwave, fridge, and kettle on site. 

Duration: 9 am - 4 pm


Projects will include the following*

  • Pin Cushion
  • Stuffed Animal
  • Organizer Bag
  • Embroidered Patches
  • Hand Sewing Techniques including darning and mending
  • and more!
*Projects may be added, substituted or deleted, based on timing and the student's progress during the camp.


WHAT IS IN A BASIC SEWING KIT:
For most of our classes we ask you to bring a 'basic sewing kit' which usually contains: scissors, small snipping scissors, straight pins & a pin cushion or collector, seam ripper, a spool of neutral 50 wt cotton thread, notebook & pen/pencil etc.).

WORKSHOP CANCELLATION POLICY:

If you cannot attend a workshop (either one-day or a multi-day series) and it is 14 or more days before the start date, you will receive a store credit for 75% of the value of the workshop. If you cancel less than 14 days before the start of the workshop, you will NOT receive a refund or store credit. No credit or refund will be given for a "no-show" in the workshop regardless of the reason. So please ensure that you can attend before signing up.  EAST COAST QUILT Co reserves the right to cancel workshops/events. If this happens, you will be refunded your full workshop fee.

 


Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Projects in the kids camps are all beginner friendly. Students will learn about selecting fabrics, cutting safety, sewing with a sewing machine, and much more!
Materials Included: All materials included. Sewing machines supplied for duration of workshop.

Instructor Bio: Hello! My name is Helena, I like to wear fun earrings and big colourful pants. I also know a lot about cartoons and comic books. I have been a textiles artist for most of my life! I tend to focus more on useful projects made from scrap or projects that involve repairing the things I already have! I believe that sewing is a skill that everyone should learn.
