SEW DAY: Victoria Quilts Canada - St. John's NL Branch

Victoria’s Quilts Canada (VQC) provides handmade quilts to people living with cancer in Canada. By providing these quilts, their hope is to bring physical comfort to those dealing with cancer as well as spiritual comfort in knowing that they are not alone.



"This will be a gathering of like minded people who want to volunteer their time for this wonderful cause and to socialize, celebrate friendships, share ideas and sewing techniques. We intend to sew quilts and distribute them to persons living with cancer in NL. We welcome new members or volunteers to sew with us on Sew Days or if not in the city you may already be part of a Friends group who sew for charity. You can form a Friends of Victoria’s Quilts Canada group with us as well. If interested in forming a VQC Friends Group please email Rose Drover-Jones (vqcsjnlchair@gmail.com)."

EAST COAST QUILT co. is happy to be providing a space for volunteers to meet on a monthly basis. We offer a work space, irons + ironing boards, design walls, cutting tables & mats, and sewing machines (but you are welcome to bring your own). We have a kitchen/break area with seating (and a nice view of the harbour!), self-serve tea & coffee, and is equipped with a fridge & microwave. 

All materials for quilts are provided - just bring your own thread & your basics sewing kit (see below for details)

WHAT IS IN A BASIC SEWING KIT: 
For most of our workshops we ask you to bring a 'basic sewing kit' which usually contains: rotary cutter and/or scissors, small snipping scissors, straight pins & a pin cushion or collector, seam ripper, a spool of neutral 50 wt cotton thread, extra bobbins, notebook & pen/pencil, ruler(s), etc.)

SCENT AWARENESS
Scented products can trigger serious health reactions in folks with asthma, chronic migraines, allergies, or chemical sensitivities. Please help us maintain a healthy environment for everyone by not wearing scented products.
