Intro to Quilting Basics - Make a Patchwork Pillow in ONE DAY!
Want to learn how to quilt without the big investment!? Give it a try in this ONE DAY session! This is a great way to dip your toes into the world of quilting and gain and understanding of the basic techniques.
This course will cover all the important steps of:
- 1/4" seam allowance
- Nesting Seams
- Sandwiching Layers
- Quilting stitches and best practices
- Assembling & attaching binding
20in x 20in finished cover.
In order to finish this in one day, students will be required to pre-cut their fabrics prior to workshop start. A detailed email will be sent 7-10 prior to workshop with more info. If you need assistance, please reach out to set a time with your instructor, Kerri, so she can walk you through the best practices for accurate cutting.
This is beginner friendly, but students should have some familiarity with the sewing machine (threading, sewing)
Materials Required:
- 16x squares measuring either 5.5" each or 4.5" each (more details in welcome email 7-10 days prior to workshop)
- Coordinating thread (cotton recommended for piecing, polyester for topstitching. This will be covered in class)
- 0.4m (16in) for back pieces
- 0.25m (NOT a fat quarter) binding fabric
- Fat Quarter of muslin (included in workshop fee)
- Fat Quarter of Batting (included in workshop fee)
This class is suited for adults (age 15+)

WORKSHOP CANCELLATION POLICY:
If you cannot attend a workshop (either one-day, or a multi-day series) and it is 14 or more days before the start date, you will receive a store credit for 75% of the value of the workshop. If you cancel less than 14 days before the start of the workshop, you will NOT receive a refund or store credit. No credit or refund will be given for a "no-show" in the workshop regardless of the reason. So please ensure that you can attend before signing up. EAST COAST QUILT Co reserves the right to cancel workshops/events for any reason. If this happens, you will be refunded your full workshop fee.
WHAT IS IN A BASIC SEWING KIT:
For most of our workshops we ask you to bring a 'basic sewing kit' which usually contains: a rotary cutter and/or scissors, small snipping scissors, straight pins & a pin cushion or collector, a seam ripper, a spool of neutral 50 wt cotton thread, extra bobbins, notebook & pen/pencil, ruler(s), etc.)

Scented products can trigger serious health reactions in folks with asthma, migraines, allergies or chemical sensitivities. Please help us maintain a healthy environment for everyone by not wearing scented products.
