Boomerang Bags for
Prince of Wales Collegiate
Boomerang Bags are all about connecting communities, making bags, diverting waste, starting conversations, fostering sustainable behaviour, and having a bit of fun!
Bruce Brenton, Clothing/Textiles Instructor at Prince of Wales Collegiate, has been teaching the Boomerang Bags project to his high school students for the last few years and is now looking to the craft community for donations!
For the month of May, we are asking our wonderful customers to dig into their stashes and donate a minimum of 1 meter of fabric: this can be canvas, corduroy, quilting cotton, or upholstery fabric. Donations can be dropped off to our shop at 343 Water Street!
ECQco will match every 1 meter of fabric donated!
AND! When you donate, you will be entered into a draw for a selection of wonderful prizes. Names will be drawn daily until the end of may! We have 30 daily prizes and a grand prize of 40 fat quarters valued at $300!!!

* Staff Highlight *
Congratulations to staff member & hand embroiderer extraordinaire, Kevin Melanson, for being one of the selected winners in the 2022 Arts & Letters Competition, under the Senior Visual Arts category!
The Arts & Letters Competition is in its 70th year, with the aim of the program being to stimulate creative activity, both amateur and professional, by providing cash prizes, adjudication and the exhibition of meritorious entries. Kevin’s piece “FARR Residency” is a hand embroidered piece, commenting on the value of labour found in craft & art. Help us celebrate Kevin's success by checking out his piece on display at The Rooms until May 15th!
