LORI DOODY - 'Round Da Bay - Bay Houses - Multi on White - 1pc - 0.82m/32.5in

Local St. John's artist, author and illustrator Lori Doody is well known for her witty, bright and quirky illustrations with a gentle sense of kindness and community.  This print coordinates with Lori's Fishing Stages print.

From VOCM:

'What is a biscuit box house?
Most homes prior to the 1880s were a saltbox form, where a steep pitch to the roof was necessary to allow water to shed off the wooden shingles. When tar paper became available, a steep roof was no longer necessary, and the biscuit box with its flatter roof was born.'

And from CBC:

'Named after the rectangular boxes used to ship hard biscuits, they are two-storey houses with gentle sloped roofs. The name saltbox may be commonly used, but finding an actual saltbox home is becoming more rare.'

These exclusive designs are hand drawn and hand coloured, then printed on 100% cotton. Lori's charming, whimsical drawings, featured in her many childrens' books, are replicated in these prints, resulting in a truly handcrafted finish.

We are SO excited about this collaboration!
